Information for Students

Science projects are an exciting way to learn new things about the world, develop research skills, and express your creativity by exploring a topic that you are interested in.

When participating in the CuriouSTEM science workshop program, you will participate in one-on-one free virtual lessons from trained volunteers, who will aid you in selecting a project topic, and developing your project and presentation. At the end of each month-long workshop session, a virtual science fair competition will be held between the participants where prizes and judge feedback from highly successful science fair students will be given.

Each workshop session this summer is comprised of 5 virtual sessions over the course of a month that will last less than 30 minutes each.

Our 2020 Summer Science Workshops are now open!

Types of Projects

Wonder Projects (All Grade Levels): A Wonder Project involves using resources such as the Internet and books to find out information about different things in our everyday lives and the environment, and creating a presentation about the things you learned. This is a fun way to get information about things that you have always wondered about, or interesting new topics that you discover in the research process.

Experiment Projects (Grade 3 and up): An Experiment Project involves hands-on experimentation to derive conclusions about a hypothesis. Meant for older children to learn about the scientific method, independent and dependent variables, and other valuable knowledge. Performing an experiment is a fun way to observe results yourself and see science in action.
