A Glimpse into User Experience

When you use an app, what is the #1 thing that influences your opinion of the app? For most, the answer would be the user experience. User experience (UX or UE) looks to create a relevant and meaningful experience for the product user. Generally, user experience focuses on psychological factors as it is concerned with the feelings invoked by the product rather than the quality of the product. With the software industry becoming increasingly more competitive, UX proves to be a defining component in the best software or apps.

UX is a combination of solving a problem and designing an aesthetic product. Those who work on user experience have to think about several things: the branding, the design, the usability, and the overall function of the product. A UX designer is responsible for the user experience for everything, starting with product delivery to product troubleshooting.

Like any task, there are numerous approaches one can take to create a successful user experience. However, one necessity is to identify the objective. By focusing on the goal or what one is trying to achieve through the product, one can tailor the experience specifically to the cause and audience. Additionally, by putting oneself in the mindset of a prospective user, one can achieve the best results.

The most important thing about user experience is that it is user-centered, not programmer-based. To step into the user’s shoes, a UX designer may conduct thorough research and testing. Therefore, the next time you click on your favorite application, know that there is an entire profession dedicated to your experience.
